Based on the bestseller of the same name by Luca Bianchini, Io che amo solo te is the story of fifty-year-old Ninella (Calzone) and her great love, Don Mimì (Placido), who she couldn’t marry. But then fate deals her an unexpected gift: her daughter Chiara (Chiatti) falls in love with none other than Damiano (Scamarcio), the son of the man she’s always dreamt of, and the two youngsters decide to tie the knot.
Chiara and Damiano’s wedding thus becomes a big event for the small town of Polignano a Mare.
